Care Packages deliver comfort, encouragement, and moments of sunshine to children and families during hospital stays and recovery.

Our Care Packages provide comfort, encouragement, and practical support to families during hospital stays and recovery at home.

Program offerings include:

Warrior Kids Sunshine Deliveries (toys, activities, and boredom busters for hospitalized children)
Sibling gifts to support brothers and sisters impacted by hospitalization
Hospital Survival Kits with essential items for parents during extended hospital stays
NICU baskets with items specifically selected for families of premature or newborn babies

Nutrition

Food should taste good and be good for the body! We view food as medicine. The food we eat should work together with the medicines and treatments, providing our body with the vital nutrition needed to help fight.

Allergies and special diets

All meals will be gluten-free, sugar-free, and free from peanuts and shellfish. All allergies and specialized diets can be accommodated. Individual nutritional needs based on specific illness will be considered and tailored when possible.

Meal Delivery

Once a week, Cali Kids Medical Foundation's, Isaacs Kitchen, will provide a few healthy meals to families who are recently discharged from the hospital or are in between in-patient cycles.

Meal service is most needed during this transitional period because families are transitioning from hospital care to in-home care, adjusting to new meds, equipment, routines, etc. Many times during this time period, household chores have accumulated, groceries are needed, and cooking a nutritious meal is typically not manageable during this time. We also recognize that good nutrition is especially crucial during this time period. Oftentimes the child is more susceptible to illness during this transitional time, and the family is under increased distress, making them more susceptible to illness as well. Receiving healthy meals during these critical transitional periods improves physical and mental health, by providing crucial nutrition and by greatly relieving stress.

Garden and cooking workshops

Nutrition is fun! We will be hosting monthly workshops in our garden space. We will be renting the space at St. Lukes in North Park until we are able to obtain a permanent location.

Workshops will include:

nutritional facts about highlighted ingredients,
nutritional support for specific illness/disease.
Nutritional tips supporting improved immune function and mental health.
Easy, space saving garden tips.
Simple recipes.
Cooking/preparing a recipe together using highlighted ingredients.
Therapeutic time in the garden, planting or harvesting ingredients.
